The signatories of the agreement, Director General Daniel Barrios of Devnet and Zhang Li Li, president of the Women’s Federation of Shanghai, jointly pronounced that the present agreement concretizes a strategic cooperation that allows the launching of the WINNER Project in China  and the countries of the Mekong Sub-region.

As one of the international organizations participating in the Shanghai World Expo 2010, Devnet International will have an independent pavilion measuring 3000 square meters at the site of the exposition.  This pavilion will provide an important venue for various interactive programs that are meant to drum up attention to project initiatives, services and important milestone achievements of Devnet. 

Consistent with the theme of the Shanghai World Expo 2010, “Better City, Better Life”, Devnet will promote the concept of “Emerging City and Quality of Life” through various fora and roundtable discussions as well as project models that reflect the theme of the exposition. 

WINNER (Women into the New Network for Entrepreneurial Reinforcement) is a global program that aims to strengthen women’s economic capacity, rights and bargaining power to achieve sustainable livelihoods.  This is done through training of women in communities in the use of information technology tools, which are rapidly becoming essential vehicle for shaping and reaching new markets.

The Italian Cooperation for Development of the Government of Italy, through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has supported the WINNER, in the framework of women’s economic empowerment and gender equity, to bring into the mainstream of the global economy the marginalized sector of society, foremost of whom are women in small enterprises.
